All new scouts and parents should read this to get more informed on what we do in the troop.
The Scout rank introduces youth to the fundamentals of Scouting. New Scouts learn the Scout Oath and Law, basic skills, and how a troop functions, setting the foundation for their Scouting journey.
Tenderfoot focuses on basic outdoor and personal fitness skills. Scouts learn camping essentials, first aid basics, and begin developing healthy habits and self-reliance.
At the Second Class rank, Scouts expand their outdoor skills and community awareness. They practice navigation, cooking, nature study, and service while becoming more confident campers and team members.
First Class represents a strong level of Scouting proficiency. Scouts demonstrate advanced outdoor skills, leadership, and preparedness, showing they can fully participate in and contribute to troop activities.
Star rank marks the transition from learning skills to leading others. Scouts serve in leadership roles, earn merit badges, and actively participate in service to their troop and community.
Life Scouts take on greater responsibility and leadership. This rank emphasizes service, mentorship, and preparation for the Eagle Scout journey.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouting America and represents years of dedication and achievement. Scouts complete a significant service project, demonstrate leadership, and embody the values of Scouting in their daily lives.

The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the honor society of Scouting America (SA). It is composed of Scouts who live out the Scout Oath and Law in their lives daily as elected by their peers.

All parents who wish to attend overnight activities with their Scout must also be an Adult Leader within the Troop.

Every scout and adult leaders must purchase a Class A uniform for regular meetings and when we are traveling. Class Bs should also be obtained so that anyone participating can be comfortable while still showing Troop 291 spirit on trips and at special meetings, like bowling night, swim night, PLC meetings and similar meetings.

Troop 291 branded apparel is optional for all Scouts and anyone else who supports our Troop.
