This year's end of year June Court of Honor was a big success! There was a lot of awards given out, and our barbecue was wonderful! Thanks to everyone in the PLC and all of the leaders that made this night a great for the scouts and the families!

Yet again, we went on a whitewater rafting trip at Whitewater Challengers, which was a total blast! It was a day were scouts were. invited like last time, which means lots of scouts from different troops were on other boats having a water fight with us! It was so fun we may do it again next year!

From camping at Schiff, to visiting the Mountauk lighthouse and fishing on a boat, we did everything a scout could dream of near the shore! Even though there was no bites, the fishing boat was so fun that we would love to back and try again!

While resting at camp, we got loads of rank advancement done, we even went on an orienteering coarse in the afternoon, and had so much fun telling stories at the campfire! On Sunday, we went to Medieval Times in New Jersey, and watched the entire show, and it was very entertaining!

We got to have a weekend as a troop to do rank advancement and hangout at camp, and if that could get any better we went go-karting on our way home! When we got there, we got to go in the go-carts twice! It was so fun relaxing and and going go-carting!

We had the opportunity to go the ToBay Beach and plant dune grass, something we have been doing for the past few years. Even though not many people were able to come, we got so much grass planted! Thank you to those who helped make this a huge success!

Troop 291 visited Washington DC for Dr. Matrin Luther King weekend. The weather held out and we were able to visit the monuments and memorials at the National Mall, The Capital Building, multiple museums and Arlington Cemetary where we participated in a wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

We had an amazing Court of Honor, with lots of awards and lots of attendies, we certainly had a good time! the Senior Patrol gave the Scouts their awards that they earned since the last Court of Honor, like rank badges, merit badges from camp, and more! We are very thankful for everyone who helped make this night amazing!

The troop visited Ellenville airport for flight lessons with Kate and the team from Fly with Kate! As part of the aviation merit badge, the scouts learned about the design of the aircraft, maintenace steps and airport safety. Each of the scouts had an opportunity to take flight as a passenger and a Pilot! 

The beach cleanup was a big success, even though there was a small amount of volunteres with the troop. When we got there, we realized that the beach was already really clean, so we decided to clean a nearby park. Thank you to everyone who came to clean up the outdoors!

The troop got to go to Pennsylvania and go inside of the Eastern State Penitentiary this October. In the day time, we got a great tour of the penitentiary. And at night, we got to go through the same jail but it had a haunted house inside of it. We had so much fun! 

September, 2025

With help from lots of leaders, we had one of our best trips ever, a Survivor themed weekend! We did all sorts of competions, like canoeing, a scavenger hunt, painting a flag, and loads more! We even had to make our own shelters with a limited supply of ropes and tarps!

Even though it was our first time in a while not going to OSR, we certainly had a great time at J.N. Webster! Some Scouts started their day with the Polar Bear Plunge, and we participated in activities later in the day. We loved in so much that we will be going back next year! 

Whitewater rafting, water fights, and both at the same time! We had an amazing time rafting and having lots of water fights in and out of the water! Having fun with our troop and other troops was such a blast!

Even though we didn't go around camp looking for Geocaches because of the weather, we still had an amazing presentation on the ins and outs of it! We even got the chance to build Geocaches, and hide them around the cabin.

Undoubtably one of the most fun trips we have had in a long time, we got to go to the amazing city of Boston when it was around 20 degrees and had freshly snowed. No way to have more fun then to go on a haunted ghost tour, go to the aquarium, and play mini golf with the rest of the troop!

The troop got to do the Engineering Merit Badge with Harley Davidson, with one regular meeting on it and one Zoom meeting with an employee at Ryco's Escape Room! We had lots of fun talking about motorcycles and other inventions, like a guitar amp and things that are similar that use engineering.

On this amazing trip,  we went on a dinner train at night. Relaxing and having dinner on this seenic train was amazing! The seen were amazing, and it was such a nice train, we would love to do it again!

Camping, volunteering, free time, is all a scout could ask for! This trip was so much fun, mostly because we got to have a blast while playing games and making smores with the Cub Scouts there!

Camping in lean-tos and canoeing to an island in a lake, so much fun for a scout troop! During this amazing trip, we went to an indoor game experience, where we played different games, mostly obstacle courses when we got to compete against our friends!

Another great Court of Honor in the books, and everyone there had so much fun! We had Court of Honor at our normal meeting place, Trinity Lutheran, and all of the families of the scouts that help us so much came to watch earn our rewards! Thank you to everyone who helped us achieve these goals!

The troop got the chance to visit West Point, and we all loved how much history was involved in that historic site. We even got the chance to stay at Onteora, our usual summer camp!

We had a great time doing an indoor obstacle course, we all got to have fun for an entire day! We even got to teach a few new scouts in the troop how we run the trips.
